Audiologist

Job Description

An audiologist is a health care professional that specializes in assisting patients who are suffering from hearing loss or ear disorders. This is through extensive study, treatments, and aids/devices that can improve their hearing and health.

Pay

Depending on the location of work and experience, an audiologist earns between $50,000 – $120,000 a year.

Work Hours

Audiologists work normal business hours.

Study length

Becoming an audiologist requires 5 years of training.

To become an Audiologist, you need to:

Complete a Bachelors degree in related health focus course
Complete a Masters of Audiology degree
Complete and register through the New Zealand Audiological Society

A few specialised roles Audiologists could work in:

Education – teaching about deaf or hearing impaired
Hearing Implants and Hearing Aids
Testing in Communities
Rehabilitation
