Hauora Taiwhenua Celebrates Government Investment in Rural Urgent Care Services while waiting for further promised support in Budget 2026
Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network welcomes the Government’s investment in Urgent Care services. “Urgent and unplanned care, including PRIME services, has been an identified priority concern for rural general practice for many years. We are glad to see the Government placing focus on this and looking to apply increased funding,” comments Chief Executive of Hauora Taiwhenua, Dr Grant Davidson.
Tania Chamberlain: A Vision for Māori Health and Community Wellbeing
Tania Chamberlain, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Ngāti Kahungunu ki Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua, has spent over 30 years in the health sector. With a focus on providing equitable and culturally safe healthcare to whānau, particularly through the development of Hauora and social services. Chamberlain is passionate about ensuring her community has access to services designed for them, by them.
Minister Doocey’s Rural Roadshow
Hon Matt Doocey, Associate Health Minister with responsibility for Rural Health and Minister for Mental Health, will be coming to rural communities in New Zealand to hear about local health care services and how the Government can better support communities and people working in rural health.
Rural Health Roadshow to hear from rural communities
Associate Health Minister with responsibility for Rural Health and Minister for Mental Health Matt Doocey announced today he will be coming to 12 rural locations across the country on a Rural Health Roadshow, starting this week in Levin. “All New Zealanders deserve timely access to quality health care and this Government is committed to improving health and mental health outcomes, particularly for the one in five living in our rural communities,” Mr Doocey says.
Stand Up for Better Healthcare – Join the Buller Declaration Roadshow
New Zealand’s health system is under strain, and communities across the country are calling for urgent action. The Buller Declaration is a nationwide movement advocating for real change, and a series of Public Meetings are being held to raise awareness and gather support. We encourage you to attend a meeting near you, hear from expert speakers, and add your signature to the Declaration. Together, we can make a difference and ensure our voices are heard when the Declaration is presented to Parliament in November.
