Role

We are looking for a permanent General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician) for a practice located in Lower Hutt, Wellington working 32-40 hours per week. A minimum commitment of 12 months is required.

Practice

The practice has a great team of experienced GPs and nurses who are extremely supportive of each other and their patients. There is a strong commitment to working with their community and reducing barriers to health care. The team has a multi-disciplinary approach to health care, with GPs and nurses work alongside community health workers, physiotherapist, psychiatrist, a dietitian and counsellor.

The practice is community owned and employs eight GPs across two practices (who each work three or four days per week), six nurses and a full time practice manager. Six of the GPs have been at the practice for over seven years and are able to provide excellent support and supervision for new GPs. They are seeking a new permanent GP who is passionate and committed to providing excellent health care to the community.

Office hours are 9.00am to 6.00pm (the clinic closes at 5.00pm). GPs see patients in 15 minute appointments, and 30% of their time is allocated to administration.

Wellington is New Zealand’s capital city; and with excellent cafes, restaurants, wine and craft beer, and a range of events, it is also known as New Zealand’s ‘Capital of Culture’. The city is home to many museums, theatres and arts festivals, including Te Papa Tongarewa (the Museum of New Zealand), the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the biennial Festival of the Arts.

Wellington is New Zealand’s centre of government, and third most populous urban area. It is also a leading centre for creative industries, such as film and computer technology.

The city is situated alongside Wellington Harbour and surrounded by native forest. For outdoor enthusiasts there are a range of opportunities including Zealandia, the beautiful Kapiti Coast, the Wairarapa wine region and Rimutaka Forest Park.
