Wairarapa means “Glistening Waters” and with New Zealand’s third largest lake and miles of coastline, it’s clear to see why.  Travelling from Wellington through the Rimutaka Ranges, the beauty of the Wairarapa opens up before you, bush-clad ranges to the west across flat plains to a rugged coast on the east.  The region is known for its hot, languid summers and provides a relaxing, refined lifestyle away from the pressures of metropolitan life.

The Wairarapa is an hour’s drive from Wellington and is renowned for its wineries, spectacular coastlines, wide valleys and small towns full of character.

The region, offers travelers a wide range of experiences with great fishing, the Rimutaka Cycle Trail or across the swing bridge at the foot of the Tararuas, is the gateway to tramping tracks into the ranges.
