What can you expect
Our team of experienced medical recruiters source New Zealand qualified and international medical graduates, facilitate Medical Council registration requirements and arrange supervision for the locum if necessary. Each candidate is fully reference-checked and vetted before being placed with a rural practice. To ensure international qualified doctors are ready to work in New Zealand, they attend our CME-accredited Orientation course. This course covers many areas of Primary Health in New Zealand, ACC, Work and Income, Medtech32, cultural competence, Māori health and the New Zealand Health System. You can read more about our Orientation course here.
Rural Recruitment Support Service
All rural general practices in New Zealand can access locum cover for their GPs annually. Locums are paid as contractors through NZLocums, which is reimbursed by the practice. The practice provides accommodation and a vehicle if needed, and travel costs are covered by either the practice or NZLocums. There are no recruitment fees or commissions, only a payroll administration fee. While we strive to meet your needs, fluctuations in locum availability may affect timing. NZLocums also recruits for permanent, long-term, short-term, and locum positions.
Orientation
Orientation is open to any international doctors who are interested in a comprehensive introduction to the health system and what it’s like to work as a health professional in New Zealand. The three-day course is tailored to prepare you for your new life and work in New Zealand. This orientation course is free for any international doctors who are recruited through NZLocums & NZMedJobs into rural practices. The course is also available for doctors not recruited through NZLocums & NZMedJobs, a fee will apply for this.
