Wānaka

Role

A practice located in Wānaka has an opportunity for an early‑ to mid‑career General Practitioner (GP) to join the team permanently for 6–8 sessions per week.

They are seeking a true team player who enjoys working collaboratively rather than independently. The practice has a large, supportive team of dedicated professionals who work closely together to deliver a wide range of services and support one another.

Resilience and a sense of humour are important, as the team recognises that not every day will be a perfect working day.

Applicants must hold a current New Zealand practising certificate issued by the Medical Council of New Zealand or an experienced internationally qualified GP who is eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Benefits

The practice offers a competitive salary and benefits, along with a supportive team environment within a Cornerstone‑accredited teaching practice.

Practice

Based in a modern, purpose‑built shared health facility, the practice cares for over 10,000 enrolled patients, providing exposure to a broad range of clinical needs in a vibrant and busy tourist town. Outside of work, you’ll enjoy mountains, lakes, ski fields, and extensive hiking and biking trails right on your doorstep, with an internationally connected airport just an hour away.

Location

Wānaka is a picturesque South Island town set on the shores of Lake Wānaka and surrounded by the Southern Alps, offering an ideal balance of adventure and natural beauty. Residents and visitors enjoy year‑round outdoor activities, from hiking, biking, kayaking, and fishing to world‑class skiing at nearby Treble Cone and Cardrona. The town itself has a warm, welcoming feel, with excellent dining, local markets, and a vibrant arts scene, all while maintaining a relaxed small‑town lifestyle. Wānaka also serves as a gateway to iconic attractions such as Mount Aspiring National Park and the stunning Blue Pools.
