Whangaroa

Role

We are looking for a committed General Practitioner to join a dedicated and enthusiastic team in Whangaroa. The role is a permanent position, 5 days per week with no on-call. This is a beautiful and tranquil location, surrounded by harbours and beaches.

Given our rurality we are a confident and resourceful group of people, striving for the best outcome for our community. The ideal applicant will have a good grasp of high needs populations and chronic care conditions.  A good understanding of small communities and Maori culture is beneficial.

Practice

The practice has an enrolled population of 3000 patients with an average 26 patients being seen per day by each GP. There is a great team of Practice Nurses and GPs who are experienced in working with the local community.  Doctors who are new to the practice often comment on how interesting the work is and how very supportive of the community the team are.

The practice holds a PRIME contract so some emergency experience is desirable. We are actively engaged in early intervention and preventative health.  We have a community gym space assisting patients to become active and remain active.  We have Nutritional value programmes for those at risk of CVD and diabetes.  We work collaboratively with other services to deliver wrap around support to our patients locally.

Location

Whangaroa’s scenery is awe-inspiring, with sheer towering bluffs and volcanic rock formations protruding through steep forested shores, its colours reflected in tranquil water. The area remains an unspoiled natural resource, ideal for rest and relaxation. With its sub-tropical summers, warm winters and Northland lifestyle, it offers the ideal destination to relocate to. Pristine white sand bays and clear water create the classic kiwi beach holiday in summer time.
