Whangamata

Role

A Whangamata‑based practice is seeking a General Practitioner (GP) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a long‑term or permanent role, available from 20 April 2026.

The role involves working 6–8 sessions per week, with one weeknight on‑call per week and one weekend per month.

The practice can also assist with accommodation, vehicle, and relocation support.

Location

Whangamata is located in the stunning Coromandel region and is renowned for one of New Zealand’s most popular beach resorts.  It has a population of 4000, swelling dramatically to 80,000 plus during the holiday periods.   Move here for the best weather in the country, with temperatures ranging from mid to high 20’s in the summer.  This region is famous for its unique combination of beach and forest.  The spectacular ocean beach provides some of the best surfing breaks and yet the safest swimming in New Zealand. A number of off-shore islands can be seen from the beach. Hauturu or Clark Island is accessible by wading at low tide and is popular in summer months for rock-pool fossickers and kayakers. There are a number of clubs, restaurants and hotels, which are able to provide meals, refreshments and entertainment for visitors.
