Role

This is a permanent or long-term position for a General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician). The role is for 8 sessions (4 days) per week with some evening (open until 8.00pm) and Saturday morning (every 3 months) clinics.

If you have good communication skills, can relate well to people and will adapt well to a rural environment, then this is the right position for you.

Practice

This teaching practice has 11,000 enrolled patients, and also sees 5,000+ casual patients/visitors per year. Surgery hours are 8.00am to 5.00pm during the week with extended evening hours to 8.00pm, four evenings per week.

There are 10 GPs who are supported by eleven practice nurses, a practice manager, administrator and receptionists. Pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services are available in Warkworth.  The District Health Board’s community health service provides a district nurse and mental health services. Other community-based services include hospice, midwives and a birthing unit.

Location

Warkworth is only 45 minutes away from New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. With many beautiful regional parks in this vicinity your weekends need never be dull, not to mention a host of beaches offering snorkelling, diving (especially at Goat Island) and paddle boarding. Other attractions include farmers’ markets, gelato bars and vineyards around Matakana.

Warkworth has three kindergartens, a primary school and a secondary school and all the local amenities you’d expect of a town of its size.  The population is approximately 4,000 and the climate is warm and temperate with summers seeing the mercury hit the high 20s.
