Role An opportunity is available to work on beautiful Waiheke Island. If working in a practice where the location has been rated the fifth best destination in the world appeals to you, then look no further. We are currently seeking a qualified friendly GP or NP for a permanent placement. You will be working with other GPs and a practice team, in a warm supportive environment. The role is for six to eight sessions a week, negotiable. With being classed as a rural practice, alongside acute medical care we have complex and diverse presentations, creating a varied and interesting working environment. The role would suit a GP/NP either living on the island or commuting from Auckland. A remote role undertaking video and phone consultations would also be considered. Ideally we are looking for a senior GP (FRNZCGP or equivalent) or an experienced NP, who has worked in acute care, and who is calm and methodical.
Practice The practice is centrally located on Waiheke Island and support is provided by practice nurses, a practice manager and receptionists. This is a happy and friendly practice that strives to go the extra mile to meet its patients’ needs and provide a warm and caring environment along with high quality care for all patients. As part of the Waiheke Health Trust, the practice works closely with the Trust’s services, including District Nursing, Palliative Care Nurses, Well Child services, Radiology services, and a visiting Dietitian and Podiatrist. We are just a ferry ride away from a large teaching hospital that provides excellent support. We have excellent support from St John paramedics who are located next door.
Location Waiheke Island is a national treasure located in the beautiful Hauraki Gulf 18km from Auckland, and the second largest island on the Gulf. Home to historic sites, wildlife and diverse habitats, the island is an important part of New Zealand’s landscape. Known as a region for its many wineries and vineyards, Waiheke offers a relaxed lifestyle and friendly community. Auckland City is only 35 minutes away by ferry (departing every half hourly to hourly), where there are all the attractions of city life.
