Role

A one-of-a-kind General Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner is sought to join this experienced, fun-loving team in the Southern Lake Taupo district.

This practice has been set up to provide a working environment where doctors and nurses can enjoy the job satisfaction of a rural general practice but where work-life balance is the key.  They keep their GP/NP to patient ratio low so you can provide the quality care which supports their complex patients’ needs.

They are looking for a team player who is adaptable and flexible for their fast-moving and varied environment.  Someone who is a great mentor and will contribute to this dynamic teaching practice.  They are especially keen on someone who approaches healthcare from a patient centred perspective and who is inspired by a collaborative approach to solving complex medical puzzles.

If you are a Te Reo Maori speaker and willing to live at the Southern end of the lake, they will see this as an additional bonus.

A competitive salary is on offer with assistance with Medical Council of NZ fees, Medical Indemnity cover, and Practising Certificate fees.

Practice

This is a privately owned not-for-profit practice, run by a board of trustees.  It has a growing diverse patient population including an influx of visitors during the summer and winter holiday periods. It provides a PRIME service within surgery hours, supports a range of community-based clinics, and has a high needs resident population with complex medical conditions. Surgery hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, with a single late evening clinic till 6pm each week – covered in rotation through the GP/NP’s.  There is no on-call as after hours and weekend cover is contracted out to a triage service.
