Role

A General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician) or NP is sought to join this experienced, fun loving team in the Lakes District.  This practice has been set up to provide a working environment where doctors and nurses can enjoy the job satisfaction of a rural general practice. You will work 6 to 8 sessions per week (3-4 days) with no on-call requirements.

The ideal candidate is someone who likes variety and working in a team with broad varied skill sets. Someone who shows mutual respect for all of their colleagues (admin, clinical, management and allied health professionals).

We are looking for a team player who is adaptable and flexible in our fast-moving environment. Preferably an experienced doctor who is a great mentor and will contribute to our dynamic teaching practice. A Te Reo Maori speaker and willing to live at the Southern end of the lake is a bonus.

A competitive salary is on offer with assistance with Medical Council of NZ fees, Medical Indemnity cover, and Practising Certificate fees.

Practice

This is a privately owned Practice, run by a board and shareholders from the wider community.  The practice has approximately 4,000 registered patients and growing.  Surgery hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, with a Saturday morning clinic for urgent cases only.  GPs from an urban practice, and the hospital cover the rest of the weekend.

This Practice has a diverse patient population including an influx of visitors during the holiday periods. We service a high needs resident population with complex medical conditions to stretch the intellect.

Location

Turangi is a town where you can live a relaxed lifestyle with a population of around 4,000. It is nestled close to the tourist town of Taupo- a haven for all things adventurous from fishing to hunting, mountain-biking and hiking.  Being inland, summers are hot and winters are cold –the perfect excuse to soak in the naturally heated hot pools after a day’s skiing in Mount Ruapehu.

Have a look at the Taupo/Lakes District region here.
