Tokoroa

Role

We are looking for a permanent General Practitioner to join this long-established and well-run practice.  We are looking for a doctor to work four to five days a week with minimal afterhours commitment.

We have an excellent salary package. Medical Council of NZ fees and Medical Indemnity costs are paid for by the practice.  Accommodation and vehicle costs are negotiable.

The desired candidate is someone who is passionate about making a difference to health outcomes especially for high needs patients, someone who works well in a team setting, approachable and likes to have a laugh.

Practice

This friendly practice has six consulting rooms and four nursing stations within the surgery.  Pathology, pharmacist and x-ray facilities are all on site, as is a District Health Board run Emergency Department that sees all serious acute trauma and chest pains, etc.  Ours is a friendly, relaxed practice. The welcoming staff of receptionists, practice nurses and GPs will assist you in settling in.

The practice has around 7000 registered patients. Around 70% of our practice population are high needs and 54% are Māori and Pasifika. They are generally appreciative and non-demanding patients.

Location

Tokoroa has a population of approximately 14 000 (Another surgery services the balance of patients.). A full spectrum of schooling facilities caters for kindergarten right through to community-based tertiary education.

Surrounding the town are many dairy farms, plantation forests and scenic reserves.  Lake ‘Moana-Nui’ is a lunch time stroll from the practice. There are about forty five lakes within a forty-five-minute drive of this town!

Its central location means that it is an hour’s drive to Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua or Taupo.  Two and a half hours will get you to Auckland, The Coromandel Peninsula or the ski fields at Mount Ruapehu.
