Role

The rural practice based in Marton has two open roles for either a general practitioner (GP) or nurse practitioner (NP) to join their team! These role includes working 8 – 10 sessions per week (negotiable), with minimum on-call required.

Work with a great team of nurses and supportive admin team, practice is located in a stunning renovated villa.

Practice

The practice is a busy privately-owned practice that is based in a converted and extended house one block from the centre of town. It is a well-equipped practice with four doctors consulting rooms and four nurse consulting and treatments areas. The practice also provides external services to a local rest home, and cares for students at two local private schools.

The practice uses the Medtech Evolution computerised patient management system.   The closest base hospital, Whanganui Hospital, is 45 kilometres away, or 30 minutes’ drive. Wanganui Hospital is the main secondary level provider of health services in the Whanganui district.

Location

The town of Marton, population around 6000, is situated midway between the riverside city of Wanganui, and Palmerston North, one of New Zealand’s largest provincial cities and the site of Massey University.   The central North Island ski fields are only one and a half hours drive to the north.

Marton is a service centre for the rural community.  The town is well-resourced with shops and other amenities and the close proximity of Marton to several major centres offers enviable options. Within the town itself, is a heated, covered Olympic-sized pool and gymnasium, a number of cafes and restaurants, and a range of sports facilities and cultural clubs. The nearest golf course is 10 kilometres from the town centre. Kayaking, cycling on quiet country roads, bush walks and trout fishing are all popular activities that can be enjoyed in and around Marton.
