Role A fixed term or permanent General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician) is wanted to join this fantastic team. The GP will be working ten sessions per week (5 days) with no on-call requirements. If you have good communication, able to relate well to people and will adapt well to a rural environment, then this is the right position for you.
Practice This is a modern purpose built medical centre for GP, community health and social service needs. There are four GP consult rooms, two nurse consult rooms, two nurse triage hubs and a nurse hub. There is also a pharmacy onsite. The practice has around 6390 enrolled patients, and each GP sees around 28 patients per day. The patient base is 50% Maori and 50% other.
Location Hawera is the second-largest town in the Taranaki region with a population of around 10,000. It is near the coast of the South Taranaki bight. If you enjoy a rural lifestyle, beautiful mountain scenery, surfing within an hour away then this region will definitely appeal to you. The bigger cities of Whanganui and New Plymouth are only one hour away. There are six primary schools, one intermediate school, one secondary school, one Kura Kaupapa School and five pre-schools in the area. You can enjoy Hawera’s art galleries, parks, movie and performance theatres in the town centre. Further from the town is the sports, events and function centre, the TSB Hub.
