Location Dargaville is built along the edge of the wide Northern Wairoa River, located 45 minutes’ drive from Whangarei city and 2.5 hours’ drive from Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. There is a relaxed lifestyle with easy access to stunning beaches, lakes and numerous outdoors activities. The town’s population is approximately 5,000, with a further 8,000 in the surrounding district. Māori settlements and marae (meeting places) have been scattered around the area for hundreds of years. Around 33 percent of the population is Māori and much community consultation is carried out on marae, or meeting houses.
