Support for Rural Practices

NZLocums is the only recruitment organisation in New Zealand to hold a contract with the Government to place GPs and NPs into rural practices

NZLocums provides two recruitment support services (short term locum placements and long term/permanent placements) for rural practices throughout New Zealand as part of our contract with the Manatū Hauora | Ministry of Health.

This contract means all our recruitment services are free. Whether you need our support throughout the entire recruitment process or at any stage, even if you are already in contact with a potential candidate or have one in mind, we can still provide support and offer this service for free.

Our team are experts in the whole recruitment process including immigration, medical registration, insurance, reference checks, and more. We offer a seamless recruitment process for your practice, taking all the admin-heavy tasks off your hands.

Rural Locum Support Serivce

All rural general practices in New Zealand are eligible to access locum cover for each of their GPs each year. The locum is paid as a contractor through NZLocums and NZLocums is reimbursed for the same amount from the practice. The practice provides accommodation and a vehicle if needed. Travel to and from the placement is covered by either the practice or NZLocums, depending on circumstances. We do not charge the practice any recruitment fees or commission, the only cost to the practice is a payroll administration fee. We pride ourselves on our service, however due to fluctuations in supply and demand for locums, we may not always be able to provide a locum at the time you need them. We do our utmost to ensure we find a suitable time for your practice.

This orientation course is free for any international doctors who are recruited through NZLocums & NZMedJobs into rural practices.
