Applications Open for the HTRHN Rural Health Student Research Scholarships 2025-2026

Are you currently enrolled in a health-related discipline and passionate about making a difference in rural communities? 

Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network is pleased to invite applications for two 2025-2026 Rural Health Student Research Scholarships, valued at $7,500 each. These scholarships support a 12-week elective or research placement in a rural New Zealand community of your choice. 

Scholarship Benefits: 

  • $7,500 grant to assist with living expenses and discretionary costs 
  • Research supervision provided by your tertiary institution (or equivalent), at no cost to HTRHN 
  • Opportunity to present your findings to Hauora Taiwhenua, with potential for publication and/or presentation at a rural health conference or similar event 
  • This is a unique opportunity to contribute to rural health outcomes while advancing your academic and professional development.

To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter to Robyn Fell, HTRHN Operations Manager, at robyn.fell@htrhn.org.nz. 

 

Your cover letter should include: 

Your current enrolment status – institution and year of study 

Intended use of the scholarship, including your proposed research question(s) 

Any additional supporting information 

Name and affiliation of your proposed research supervisor

Terms and Conditions: 

The successful applicant must be willing to participate in an interview with HTRHN, which may be used to develop promotional content such as a media release, case study, or feature story. By submitting your application, you consent to being contacted for promotional purposes if selected.
