The Students of Rural Health Aotearoa (SoRHA) are looking for applicants to sign up for the Rural School Visits in the Manawatu / Wairarapa region, departing from Wellington on Monday 28th August to Friday 1st of September. We are looking for tertiary health volunteer students who are passionate about rural health and are keen to share their enthusiasm with the rural community.
Closer to the date we will finalise the towns and locations we will be touring.
Application form: https://forms.gle/yFdVoE3wPsbBgpXc8
If you are a school or clinic practice in this region or these towns, please feel free to contact samantha.hill@htrhn.org.nz if you wish to get involved with the programme.
The Rural School Visits is an interactive workshop where volunteer tertiary health students majoring in a range of health professions (i.e. dental, nursing, physiotherapy, etc) who have come from rural backgrounds or are interested in working rurally after graduation, will give a 1-2 hour workshop with fun activities teaching year 9 – 13 students about human anatomy, and what it’s like studying medicine and health – all through practical techniques that they’d use in real rural health careers (i.e. checking blood pressure, making dental molds, etc).
