Role This practice is seeking a permanent General Practitioner (Family Medicine Physician) to cover a wide spectrum of rural general practitioner work. There will be 6-8 sessions per week with limited on-call requirements. We are looking for an empathetic, dynamic GP to join an experienced rural team, within a diverse community practice. You need to be able to show leadership when required but also work as part of an integrated team.
Practice This practice is the largest and most established medical service provider in Cromwell, with highly qualified medical and nursing staff. We have a highly experienced team of GPs, along with Nurse Practitioners and a wonderful support team of Nurses and Administrators. The practice has a radiology clinic located internally and a group of travelling specialists to service the needs of our patients. This is also a teaching practice for undergraduates. The patient base is around 4,800.
Location Located in the spectacular Central Otago region in the South Island, Cromwell sits on the shores of Lake Dunstan, amidst a stunning rural landscape. The climate is dry and marked by hot summers and crisp, cold winters, perfect for the cultivation of grapes and cherries and subsequently the area is becoming world-renowned for its stylish Pinot Noir. The township is only a short drive to the popular resort towns of Queenstown (45 minutes) and Wanaka (40 minutes). Four-wheel driving, trekking, tramping, hunting and mountain biking are all popular pastimes in the area, as are fishing and other water sports. With the winter ski fields of The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Treble Cone, Cardrona and Waiorau Snow Farm all within comfortable driving distances, this is a fantastic location to be based!
