Role We are looking for a permanent or long term General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician) to join a friendly and supportive team. The role is for 8 to 10 sessions per week. The ideal candidate is a general practitioner (GP) or nurse practitioner (NP) who is flexible, team player with a sense of humour!
Practice This centre employs up to five GP’s, seven practice nurses and support staff. The principal GP’s are vocationally registered. A number of them work part-time and are involved in supporting the provision of maternity services. Clinical excellence and forward thinking plays a huge part in this well run practice. The staff all network effectively on a district and regional-wide basis for clinical governance. As the practice holds a rural teaching programme, they encourage young and trainee GPs, nurses and midwifes through their facility.
Location Dannevirke has a population of around 6200, is a family-focussed town with a strong sense of community. It is situated in the Tararua District, which boasts two forest parks, three mountain ranges, rugged coastline, bush-covered valleys and nearly 300 kilometres of river network. The climate has defined seasons, with summer temperatures reaching above 30°C and cool winters. The town is located only an hour’s drive to the bustling university city of Palmerston North and one and a half hour trip to the famous wine country – the Hawke’s Bay. If you would prefer to stay close to home then the local golf course, heated indoor pool, Ruahine Ranges and the Manawatu River are all easily accessible. Enjoy the trout fishing, canoeing, hiking or horse riding. Dannevirke is the largest community in the Tararua District and is well serviced with a modern hospital, three secondary schools and a growing commercial sector.
