Huntly

Role

A well-established practice in Huntly is seeking a permanent General Practitioner (GP) who is bright, cheerful, and efficient. The start date for this position is flexible, with a preference for a February or March 2026 commencement. Additional support can be negotiated directly with the practice.

The number of sessions per week is flexible, and there are no on-call requirements. If you are a strong communicator, personable, and have a genuine interest in Māori health, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Practice

This is a privately owned practice – one of three medical practices in the northern Waikato town of Huntly.

The practice has four doctors rooms, two treatment rooms and nurses’ station, a short distance from the centre of Huntly town itself.  There is a Pathology Lab and pharmacy services available next door. Minor surgery and mental health services are also available in the practice.

Location

Huntly lies beside New Zealand’s longest river, the Waikato River and is also home to the country’s largest thermal power station.  The town is surrounded by lakes, walks and rich farmland and is 30 minutes to the nearest city of Hamilton.  Huntly has all the amenities you need from shops, churches, library and schools.  The weather is pleasant all year round with warm summers and mild winters. Auckland City, Raglan beach, Waihi Beach and Nikau caves are only one hour away.

The Waikato region has the Waitomo Caves where you can see glow worms in their limestone environment and the Hobbiton movie set and many more tourist attractions.
