Rakaia

Role

A practice located in Rakaia is seeking a General Practitioner (GP) for a short‑term role available from 5 August to 28 August 2026.

In this role, you will be working 6 sessions per week, with no on‑call requirements.

The practice can also assist with accommodation and relocation costs.

Location

Rakaia, situated on New Zealand’s South Island, is a rural town along the banks of the Rakaia River. This picturesque region is renowned for its agricultural heritage and the iconic Rakaia Gorge.

Agriculture is at the heart of Rakaia’s identity, with vast farmlands and crop fields stretching as far as the eye can see. The braided Rakaia River is famous for its salmon fishing and is an angler’s paradise. The Rakaia Gorge provides excellent hiking and kayaking opportunities amid stunning limestone cliffs and native forests.

The town itself offers a peaceful and close-knit community, with local amenities, parks, and cafes. The nearby Mount Hutt Ski Field beckons snow enthusiasts in the winter months.

Rakaia’s serenity, rural charm, and access to outdoor activities make it an appealing destination for those seeking a peaceful escape in the Canterbury region of New Zealand.
