Role A practice located in Oxford is seeking support from a General Practitioner (GP) over a four‑day period, beginning on 6 July and concluding on 9 July 2026. In this role, you will work eight hours on each of the four days, with no requirement for any on‑call work. The practice is also able to assist with accommodation if required.
Practice This is a community and family-focused practice with a mission statement of “Oxford Living Well”. The practice is Cornerstone accredited, has a PRIME contract, and provides an after-hours service through their Rural Nurse Specialist team. You will be working with a team of three other GPs, Nurse Practitioner, Rural Nurse Specialists, Practice Nurses and District Nurses. The patient population demographic is varied, with farming being the main industry in the region. A large percentage of the population is also elderly.
Location Oxford is a small farming town located in North Canterbury, only 50 minutes from the major South Island city of Christchurch, and is largely a service centre for the rural Waimakiriri District. It is one of four major towns in North Canterbury, which have a combined population of around 47, 000. The town offers a range of shops and services, including pre-school, primary, and secondary schools. All the services expected of a major city and tourist destination are available in Christchurch, including university and polytechnic facilities.
