Role

A well-established, privately owned practice in the heart of is seeking a permanent General Practitioner (GP) to join their close-knit, collaborative team. The ideal start date is February or March 2026, though there is flexibility to suit the right candidate. Additional support can be discussed directly with the practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a GP who is bright, personable, and efficient. If you are a strong communicator with a genuine interest in Māori health and a passion for achieving equitable outcomes across a diverse patient base, this role could be a perfect fit.

Practice

Located just a short distance from central Huntly, this family-oriented rural practice is one of three in the northern Waikato town. The team values collaboration, support, and providing high-quality care to their community.

Facilities include:

  • Four doctor consultation rooms
  • Two well-equipped treatment rooms
  • Nurses’ station
  • Adjacent pathology lab and pharmacy
  • On-site minor surgery and mental health services

Location

Huntly lies beside New Zealand’s longest river, the Waikato River and is also home to the country’s largest thermal power station.  The town is surrounded by lakes, walks and rich farmland and is 30 minutes to the nearest city of Hamilton.  Huntly has all the amenities you need from shops, churches, library and schools.  The weather is pleasant all year round with warm summers and mild winters. Auckland City, Raglan beach, Waihi Beach and Nikau caves are only one hour away.

The Waikato region has the Waitomo Caves where you can see glow worms in their limestone environment and the Hobbiton movie set and many more tourist attractions.
