Waiheke Island

Role

This practice has a permanent role available for a General Practitioner (GP) to join their team on beautiful Waiheke Island.

Hours for the position are flexible and no on-call or weekend work is required, encouraging a strong work-life balance and plenty of time to enjoy Waiheke’s stunning beaches and trails.  The practice uses Indici and is part of a community-owned health trust offering district nursing, palliative care, allied health, social work, tamariki ora nursing, radiography and sonography.

We are a rural practice at heart, treating everything from accidents and acute illnesses, to offering chronic condition management, minor surgery, specialist women’s healthcare and lifestyle-support management.  We have experienced clinical and administrative staff on-site:  GPs, a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurses, an Extended Care Paramedic, Health Coach and Health Improvement Practitioner, and administrative staff, led by an experienced Practice Coordinator.

Location

In landscape, lifestyle and experience, Waiheke is a world away.

The white sandy beaches at Oneroa, Palm Beach and Onetangi slope gently down into the Hauraki Gulf and are perfect for swimming, kayaking, or having a picnic.  Our international team describe it as the perfect place to raise a family.

If you’re a walker, explore the island’s trails which meander along cliff tops, down to the beaches and into cool enclaves of native forest.  Waiheke also has one of Auckland’s most vibrant arts and culture scenes, along with world-renowned vineyards.

Getting around is easy too and Waiheke is just a 35-minute ferry ride from Auckland, so you can easily have the best of both town and country when you join us on Waiheke Island!
