Report: Results of our 2024/25 Membership Satisfaction Survey
Since our establishment in 2022, we have conducted annual surveys to gather feedback from our members on what is working well for them. Our transition from the Rural General Practice Network into the encompassing body of Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network meant that we needed to connect and serve a broader range of professionals working and living in rural communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Each survey has given us pause for reflection. How do we continue to offer value and connect authentically with you, our members? Are our communication tools accessible, and are they representing your voices and aspirations?
This year, we are pleased to report that we had an increase in the number of respondents. In a health sector fatigued by surveys, we deeply appreciate that so many of you took the time to share your thoughts.
So how are we doing?
“The turnaround time for responsiveness is immaculate and each response is informative. The customer service is also very lovely, and the team goes above and beyond in answering queries or concerns.”
Trends from the survey indicate that while engagement on social media is increasing in terms of followers and interaction, it is not a high priority for many members. There is a stronger preference for direct email and newsletters, with one respondent noting that the newsletter provides a “rural focus and insight into higher-level strategic efforts nationally in this area that I wouldn’t access otherwise.”
A key area identified for improvement is the Member’s Portal. The Portal was developed in response to member feedback, as an online platform where members could connect, learn, and share. However, engagement with the Portal has been lower than anticipated, and this will be a focus area for attention in the coming year.
As we wrap up this year’s survey report, we want to thank you for your supportive, timely, and practical feedback – including reflections like this:
“Keep working on trying to bring together the diversity of health professionals in rural health… The challenge is building that relevance across the wider sector to build a sense of community, solidarity and comradeship based on the commonality of ‘rural‘ rather than the differences of discipline.”
Keeping you at the centre and as the focus for our membership programme, we will be continuing to source new member benefits, present webinars, workshops and conferences, improving your access to communication platforms, promoting the work of your Chapters by refreshing your Chapter webpages, and growing our member programmes, particularly our Mentorship Programme.
Thank you all for your continued commitment to rural health, for your mahi in your communities, and your support of the Network. Our goal is to deliver a membership programme that is authentic and relevant to you.
If you have any ideas or feedback at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we’d love to hear from you.
