Role

A Featherston-based practice is looking for a general practitioner (GP) or nurse practitioner (NP) to fill a short-term role, available now and concluding on the 4th of July 2025.

For this role, you will be working 6 to 8 sessions per week with no requirement for any on-call, PRIME, or hospital work.

Location

Featherston, a charming town in New Zealand’s South Wairarapa District, offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Nestled at the eastern foothills of the Remutaka Range and near the northern shore of Lake Wairarapa, Featherston is just 63 km from Wellington, making it an accessible escape from the city.

Known for its rich railway heritage, Featherston is home to the world’s only surviving Fell locomotive engine, showcased in the Fell Locomotive Museum. The town’s historical significance extends to its role in both World Wars, with the Featherston Military Camp being a notable site.

Today, Featherston attracts writers, artists, and young families, drawn by its vibrant community and affordable living. Visitors can enjoy the scenic Remutaka Cycle Trail, explore the picturesque Palliser Bay, or simply relax in the town’s welcoming atmosphere. Featherston’s blend of historical charm and modern creativity makes it a must-visit destination in New Zealand.
