SUMMARY:Upper Northland: Rural School Visit
DESCRIPTION:Our Rural Health Careers Promotion programme is touring in the Upper Northland Region!\nThe Students of Rural Health Aotearoa (SoRHA) are gearing up for some Rural School Visits in the top of Northland region\, departing from Whangārei on Monday 14th and visiting 5 rural secondary schools to talk with their tauira. The tertiary volunteer students are passionate about rural health and are keen to share their enthusiasm with the rural community. Our applications are currently closed for tertiary volunteers; however\, we are still open to include more rural schools on the tour. \nWhere are we going?\nSome of the current locations we will be visiting in this region are as follow:\n-Waikare\n-Kawakawa\n-Kaikohe\n-Broadwood\n-Kaitaia\n-Ngataki \nIf you are a school or clinic practice in this region or these towns\, please feel free to contact samantha.hill@htrhn.org.nz if you wish to get involved with the programme. \n\nThe Rural School Visits is an interactive workshop where volunteer tertiary health students majoring in a range of health professions (i.e. dental\, nursing\, physiotherapy\,etc) who have come from rural backgrounds or are interested in working rurally after graduation\, will give a 1-2 hour  workshop with fun activities teaching year 9 – 12 students about human anatomy\, and what it’s like studying medicine and health – all through practical techniques that they’d use in real rural health careers (i.e. checking blood pressure\, making dental molds\, etc). \n  \n

SUMMARY:Austere Emergency Care Course
DESCRIPTION:This course\, run by Tactical Medicine New Zealand\, is designed by the world’s leading experts in Special Operations medicine to provide efficient care to critical casualties in austere conditions\, or situations without robust medical supervision or support. During the course\, participants will gain knowledge specific to Prolonged Field Care (PFC)\, Prolonged Casualty Care (PCC)\, and Austere medical treatments and interventions. \nThis is 4-day focused medical training curriculum\, which incorporates a realistic extended evacuation scenario\, incorporates methods of treatment\, problem solving\, as well as medical skill proficiency and sustainment. \nThis course is open to any practitioner\, basic life support (BLS)\, advanced life support (ALS)\, or higher trained individual who is expected to conduct prehospital operations in rural\, medically austere\, wilderness environments or other challenging environments. \nTo register\, email info@tacticalmedicinenz.com \nFor further information\, contact malinzachau@yahoo.com
